From a small workshop to the leading provider of power electronics in 100 years.
In 1919, two weeks before the opening of the Berlin – New York transatlantic radio link, Karl Schieder founds our company and immediately begins with the development and production of telecommunications systems.
Over the last 100 years, we have not just grown from a small workshop into a healthy medium-sized business; Our products have also changed steadily over time. What has remained the same over the years: Our passion for quality and innovation was cradled 100 years ago by our founder Karl Schieder.
Foundation
On July 21, 1919 Karl Schieder registers our company as a mechanical workshop at the Commercial Police Office in Nuremberg.
Begin of production
Our company begins producing telecommunication systems. It’s main customers are the German Reichspost and the German Reichsbahn.
Production of cable distributors
We develop and produce the first cable distributor. Marketed under the name KASCHIE (Karl Schieder). Even today, almost 100 years later, cable distributors for the telecommunications industry are an integral part of our product portfolio.
First patent
Karl Schieder receives the first patent of our company – for a lighter. The “K 16” a fully automatic gasoline lighter is now a sought-after collector’s item.
Destruction and relocation
During the Second World War, the company building was badly damaged by the bombardments of the Allies. Karl Schieder moves production to Marktredwitz in Upper Franconia.
Resumption
Resumption of production in the old, newly built company headquarters on Solgerstrasse in the center of Nuremberg.
New applications
In addition to telecommunications, the old overvoltage protection production branch is brought to life again.
Monitoring and testing technology is introduced as a new branch of the business.
First exports to Scandinavia, Central and South America, and the Middle East lay the foundations for our current 80% export rate.
Telecommunication
In addition to cable (end) distributors, our company manufactures built-in telephones and telephone hoods. Main customers: The German Bundespost and the German Bundesbahn.
First ignitors and ballasts
An important milestone for our success today is reached: We develop and produce our first ignitors and ballasts. These are used in overhead projectors and in medical technology – to operate light sources during endoscopy procedures.
First Certification
Certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001 for the industry: Development, production, and sales of mechanical and electronic equipment for telecommunications and power supply technology.
New focus
The DC systems product area is dissolved.
The focus is on electronic ballasts and ignitors, LED drivers, and customized power supplies. Our main customers come from lighting technology, medical technology, and special industrial sectors.
